Etheridge Foundation Sponsors Neurodivergent Psychedelic Conference

The Etheridge Foundation is proud to be a Gold Sponsor for the 2024 Neurodivergent Psychedelic Conference, taking place online on February 24.

This is a unique and innovative initiative that is very relevant to our mission. 

Research has indicated that people on the autism spectrum are more vulnerable to substance use disorder – as much as double the risk.

People on the spectrum are also much more likely to experience co-occurring mental health conditions which often lead to substance abuse, including:

• PTSD/CPTSD (4 times as likely)

• Depression (3 times as likely)

• Anxiety (4 times as likely)

However, in research so far, psychedelic-assisted therapies for these conditions are showing the same efficacy in autistic or neurodivergent individuals as in allistic or neurotypical individuals.

And in addition, psychedelic-assisted therapies have potential to help with other symptoms that are more specific to autism.

This conference will delve into the information around this topic and the experiences of people on the spectrum.
