Donation Policy

The Etheridge Foundation reserves the right to decline gifts, return gifts, or modify recognition associated with any gift when doing so is determined to be in the best interests of the Foundation and its mission.

Gifts, sponsorships, or naming opportunities may be reviewed by a Gift Acceptance Committee and/or the Executive Committee of the Board in consultation with the Executive Director.

When considering whether to solicit or accept a gift, the Foundation will evaluate the following factors:

  • Values: Whether acceptance of the gift compromises any of the Foundation’s core values.

  • Compatibility: Whether there is compatibility between the donor’s intent and the Foundation’s use of the gift.

  • Public Relationships: Whether acceptance of the gift could damage the reputation of the Foundation.

  • Primary Benefit: Whether the primary benefit of the gift accrues to the Foundation rather than the donor.

  • Consistency: Whether acceptance of the gift is consistent with prior Foundation practice.

  • Form of Gift: Whether the gift is offered in a form that the Foundation can reasonably use without substantial expense or difficulty.

  • Effect on Future Giving: Whether acceptance of the gift is likely to encourage or discourage future support.

The Board may amend or expand this policy as circumstances warrant.
