Etheridge Foundation Awards Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Research Grant

The Etheridge Foundation is pleased to announce a $43,500 grant to the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in support of research studying psilocybin-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD).

Led by Dr. Sandeep Nayak, the research explores the role of psilocybin in supporting recovery for individuals receiving treatment for opioid use disorder. The research is also notable in working with a participant population that reflects the local Baltimore community.

The Etheridge Foundation’s grant supports the research team’s ongoing work which includes efforts to better understand how emerging psychedelic-assisted approaches may complement existing treatments and contribute to improved recovery outcomes, including enhancing measures of mental health and wellbeing.

The Johns Hopkins psychedelic research program has helped shape the scientific understanding of psychedelic therapies for more than two decades. This research group continues to advance rigorous clinical research that has influenced both the scientific community and the broader conversation around psychedelic medicine.
